Tire Pressure Checks
It's easy to forget at times, but your tires are crucial for driving performance and safety. Some drivers merely glance at their tires, and if all seems well, they drive off. Tires, however, need to be correctly pressurized to work effectively. The correct tire pressure for all your tires is listed in your car manual and on a plate on the inside door jamb of the passenger front door.
Under-inflated tires tend to sag, which exposes portions of the softer sidewalls to surface friction. This increases the chance of a puncture and causes unnecessary wear, which reduces tire life. Over-inflated tires, in contrast, are more likely to suffer a blowout due to their excessive internal pressure. We can easily check your tire pressure and correct it if necessary.
Coolant Replacement
Coolant plays a vital role in your engine, as its purpose is to absorb heat radiating from the engine and transport it to the radiator for removal by heat exchange. Coolant is pumped through your engine continuously, and its speed increases or decreases as needed to maintain a safe engine operating temperature.
As time passes, the coolant becomes thicker and slower, which reduces its ability to quickly remove heat. In addition, older coolant becomes corrosive, which can lead to damage to your engine and the cooling system. If your engine temperature increases for no apparent reason, it could be time to replace the coolant. We'll drain the old coolant and flush the radiator to remove any remaining traces. Once this has been done, we'll refill your coolant.
Brake Pad Replacement
The brake pads fit into the calipers, which are positioned above each wheel rotor. When you hit the brakes, the calipers clamp against the rotors and generate friction to stop your wheels. The source of the fiction is the friction-producing material covering the pads. This material is 1/2" thick on a new pad, but the material slowly wears down as it works.
Worn pads produce a screeching noise when you brake, which is a very audible clue that your pads need to be changed.
