The new 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 has some of the widest selections of available features and add-ons in today’s vehicle market. When this is the case, it typically means that the lineup’s base model lacks any real standard features. As a GMC dealer, we’re happy to report that GMC has spared no expense with its base model, and the Sierra 1500 PRO comes with a generous list of convenient features you’re sure to love.

Engine, Power, and Handling

The Sierra 1500’s TurboMax™ engine offers drivers 310 horsepower at 5,600 RPM and a whopping 430 lb-ft of torque at 3,000 RPM. The eight-speed automatic transmission the truck’s engine is mated to is controlled electronically with overdrive and has three different driving modes you can switch between.

Haul/Tow Mode

This mode will increase the transmission’s upshift points in order to give you more acceleration power even when you’re hauling at the maximum trailering capacity. This mode also makes slowing down much safer by using engine compression through higher downshift points to help the vehicle slow while braking.

Powertrain Grade Braking

This mode will be your best companion for traveling down steep grades. The Powertrain Grade Braking mode is excellent for improving the longevity of your brakes, and it puts more control in your hands at the same time. This mode will employ the help of the engine and transmission and use them to maintain your desired speed and avoid uncontrollable downhill speeds.

Cruise Grade Braking

While your cruise control is active, this mode with automatically take over downshifting to slow your Sierra 1500. This is ideal for situations where you’re coasting downhill and the truck speeds up.

GMC PRO Safety

This serves as your suite of safety features and includes IntelliBeam oncoming traffic-sensing headlights and the Buckle to Drive system that disables the shifter until your seatbelt is on. The Forward Collision Alert tells you if a front-end collision is imminent, the Following Distance Indicator keeps you three seconds away from traffic ahead, the Front Pedestrian Braking will help you stop in time to avoid smaller collision objects, and the Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning keeps you center-lane.

All of these systems are further enhanced with the help of the Automatic Emergency Braking program, which can help assist you in hard braking when any of these situations occur. The system can also apply the brakes without driver input in the event of an impending crash.
